Roman empire has left deep traces in the architecture of Pula, leaving the most ancient monuments like the Amphitheatre, the Triumphal Arch of the Sergi, Temple of Augustus, City Wallss, Twin Gates, Gate of Hercules, Small Roman Theater.

Romantic and picturesque coastal town of Rovinj, originally an island, afterwards a peninsula, was built near the settlement Cissa, sunken in the earthquake somewhere in the 6th or 7th century. The legend of Saint Euphemia, the town's parton saint, tells us the story of the marble sarcophagus, in which the body of Euphemia, floated at the foot of the city carried by the waves and the wind. The pious people carried the body to the church and dedicated their city to her guard.

Porec (Poreč), built more than two thousand years ago as a military fortress - castrum, was officially proclaimed the city during the reign of Emperor Augustus in the 1st century, and thus became the administrative and economic center of the Roman colony, Colonia Iulia Parentium. Inland of Istria is full of small picturesque medieval towns (Motovun, Pazin, Groznjan (Grožnjan), Oprtalj, Zrenj, Buzet, Roc (Roč)...) built on the tops of the green hills. Neatly ordered stone houses have flowers in their antique windows, hand-made curtains. Enjoy the sound of a long distanced church bells and the smell of freshly baked bread. Sounds of silence, movement of a lazy cat, only now and then a sound of a cricket, all illustrate the romantic moment of the passed times.
