Dalmatia - Sibenik - Tradition and culture

Throughout the centuries, olive growing and viticulture had a leading role in the entire area of Sibenik (Šibenik), as well as in Vodice and on the island of Murter. Primosten (Primošten), on the other hand, from the past till today possessed the most picturesque and the richest vineyards in the entire region, that speak about men's diligence and the struggle in miserly area. Today they are included in UNESCO's World Heritage List. Its authentic, traditional and original way of living can be found in Jurlin Dvor, Betina on the island of Murter known for building wooden boats. Murter is famous for fishing tradition, a small island Krapanj for sea sponge harvesting.

In Dalmatinska Zagora people were engaged in agriculture, cattle breeding and small crafts. Town of Knin, which is a part of Zagora, was the most powerful city-fortress in Dalmatia. It was one of Croatian kings residences because of excellent view on the entire Liburnia and Dalmatia.

Islets Zlarin, Prvic (Prvić), Murter, Zirje (Žirje), Kaprij and Krapanj are closest to the coast of Sibenik (Šibenik). They are rich in history and culture; their places are full of agricultural areas, vineyards and small fishing boats. The tradition of maritime affairs and fishing is kept until today. In those days together with agriculture these were the only sources of living. Beautiful and fragrant coast and beaches, sunbathed wood crackling and a variety of fruits are the things that ornament these wonderful, romantic islands. On Zirje (Žirje) people have always been growing olive trees, grape vines, figs and fruits. Mediterranean Zlarin, has been known since ancient times for coral harvesting, sailing, fishing and viticulture.
