When to visit

Mljet is a paradise for those who like active vacation surrounded by beautiful untouched nature that provides memorable moments, as well as very favorable climate with 2629.1 sunny hours a year. The Mediterranean climate on the island, and thus the climate of the areas is characterized by dry, warm and hot summers and mild and rainy winters. Precisely for this reason and Mljet's geographical position, the island has two seasons: cold one in winter and autumn, and warm one in spring and summer. The average annual temperature is 16.4°C, 24.9°C in August and 9°C in January. For more than 100 days a year, air temperature on Mljet exceeds 25°C.
The most common wind is bora, cold and sometimes very strong wind that blows from north, usually in winter, and wind jugo, which usually brings rainy and cloudy weather and blows from the south through the year. In the summer months, during the biggest heat, the afternoons are refreshed by a light mistral wind.

In my personal opinion, the best time to visit Mljet is the end of August and beginning of September, when days are still long and warm enough for summer joys, but in a peaceful atmosphere without tourist crowds.
