The island of Korčula, with its natural characteristics, harmonious urban units, and its rich cultural heritage attracts numerous visitors. This is favoured by the very mild Mediterranean climate. Average temperatures are relatively high, the annual 16.8°C. The coldest month is January with 9.1°C, and the warmest July with 26.9°C. The number of annual sunny hours is high, while the rains are rare. Most of the precipitation falls in fall and winter, while in the late spring drought is prevailed with few brief storms. The Pelješki channel is almost always windy. In the summer blows a refreshing western - mistral wind, suitable for sailing; in winter south-eastern wind, north-eastern cold bora wind or strong northern wind-tramuntana. The average sea temperature in March is around 12.9°C. The sea is the warmest in July, August and September, when the average temperature is around 22.3°C.
