When to visit
The diversity and beauty are main characteristics of Peljesac's (Pelješac's) untouched nature. Area of the peninsula pertains to the „Adriatic type“ of Mediterranean climate, with long, calm, dry and hot summers, clear days and short, mild and damp winters. For this reason the area of Pelješac peninsula is considered to be the climatically ideal Mediterranean area. Air temperatures are relatively high throughout the year. Average temperature rises from 7°C in January to 26°C in July. The sea is ideal for swimming already in May. Average temperature in summer is 24°C. This is the warmest area of Croatia, very beneficial for vegetation and field crops, especially olives and grape growing. Among the most typical fruits of this region are almonds, walnuts, oranges, lemons, figs, pomegranates, nespolo and grapes.
