Dubrovnik is the centre of South Dalmatia whose importance and beauty go back in the ancient history. The town is situated at the edge of southern slopes in the foothills of Mount Srd (Srđ). This is beautiful landscape with bays and steep cliffs in a perfect conformity with the Mediterranean vegetation of cypresses, pines, olive trees, vineyards, citrus fruits plantation, aromatic plants, exotic palm trees and cactuses.

With international and intercity bus lines, Dubrovnik is connected with all major urban centers in Croatia and the surrounding area. Dubrovnik has the airport which is connected with other airports in the country, as well as many major international centers. The airport is located in Cilipi (Ćilipi), 23 km from the center of the town. All the flights have transportation by bus to Dubrovnik. Ferry transport connects the town with other major ports in Croatia such as Rijeka, Split, Zadar, Sibenik and Korcula, while in the summer period there are regular connections with some Italian ports. For sailors here is ACI marina Dubrovnik in the Dubrovnik River, with 450 berths on the sea and around hundred on the shore. The ACI marina is open all year round.
