Going north, you will find a three towns triangle - Koprivnica, Krizevci (Križevci) and Djurdjevac (Đurđevac) - as cradles of Hlebine naive art, guardians of old tradition and folklore, the old crafts and customs, bounded by the river Drava, Bilogora mountains and significant landscape of Kalnik which is proud of its old medieval city remains.
Renaissance town of Koprivnica was first inhabited by the Slavs. Gradually, as it developed and strengthened its economy, politics, transport, trade, business, government and religious life (Parish of St. Nicholas Koprivnica), Koprivnica became the urban center already in the 13th century. Through many years of trading development, Koprivnica became one of the major transversal cities. It was under the influence of Croatian kings, the Habsburgs, the Ottoman Empire, Slavonian army and many other nations. At the end of 18th century, outside the fort, substructure and the rural suburbs, people have built the main town square which had an important function. People are engaged in trade and traffic, various crafts and trades, agriculture and cattle breeding, whose tradition was held to this day.
Heading north, next to the lake Soderica (Šoderica) and the River Drava, we come to an interesting eucharistic shrine, Ludbreg. This small town is one of the few in the world which received approval for public veneration of the holy relics after the Holy blood of Jesus miraculously appeared in the chapel of Batthyanya Castle, in early 16th century. Old medieval castle of count Louis Batthyanya and the parish Church of the Holy Trinity, built in Baroque style, are among the oldest buildings of the town. The centre or the city is adorned with nicely decorated pilgrim’s square with concentric circles that represent the names of cities and the center of the circle symbolically marked as 'Centrum Mundi' - 'Center of the world'.
Across two sizeable lakes, Dubravsko and Varazdinsko (Varaždinsko), bounded by the river Mura, the ECO-Center 'Nerka' and the ancient Roman settlement Cakovec (Čakovec), lies Medjimurje (Međimurje). After the Romans, the town fortress was built by the count Dimitrij Csaky, and many rulers, warriors and kings after him. The most important period relates to the militaries and the counts of Zrinski family, whose splendid castle today bears the name of the most important historical and cultural monument of the Old City. At the time of Zrinski's, the city's and suburb's, civilizational, cultural, trade and traffic development made Cakovec (Čakovec) adopt the town statute. Inside the palace you will find the regional Museum of Medjimurje (Međimurje) with valuable cultural, historical, archaeological and ethnographic corpus.

Under the Medjimurje region, surrounded by mountains of Kalnik and Ivanscica (Ivanšćica) lies the most baroque city of all cities - Varazdin (Varaždin). Inhabited since Roman times, the city has developed in the Middle Ages, with noble parish Varaždin as founds of today's county. It was ruled by Croatian-Hungarian kings, rulers of the Kingdom of Slavonia, sultans of the Ottoman Empire... People were involved with trade, commerce, viticulture and agriculture. Winemaking on the area of Varazdin, as well as other parts of central Croatia, was brought by the Romans whose tradition of viticulture was continued by other people that later ruled this region.

Today the city of culture, music, arts, crafts and shops astonishes with its numerous splendid churches, City Hall, Varazdin cemetery and two important festivals - Festival of Baroque music and Spancirfest (Špancirfest)- Street Strollers' Festival, exibitions of old crafts, traditional customs and foods,  paintings and cultural heritage. The town has around 354 registered cultural monuments, numerous museums, parks, the famous monuments of garden architecture, and a thousand-year presence of man on this area. The most imposing and the most valuable heritage of the city and surrounding area is Forest Park and Castle Trakoscan (Trakošćan) - located inside the dense forest on the hill above the lake and originally built as a fortress in the 13th century, to be reconstructed into a magnificent castle and the family counts Draskovic (Drašković) in the 19th, when Draskovic family ruled the area. The whole castle is a museum of medieval weapons, old military equipment, the original furniture, books, documents, from fireplaces to knights’ armor and rooms with wall decorations.
